The Indiana Retired Teachers Association Foundation offers scholarships to assist future teachers and to encourage quality education in Indiana. The scholarships are competitive as there are many applicants and only eight winners.  The $3,000 scholarships were awarded at Indiana Retired Teachers Association’s annual Representative Assembly on May 19, 2010. The scholarship is available to sophomores or juniors who are majoring in education at an Indiana college or university.

Congratulations to the Indiana Retired Teachers Association
2010 Scholarship Recipients!

The Indiana Retired Teachers Association Foundation, Inc., is a not-for-profit corporation organized under the laws of Indiana and the United States and approved by the Internal Revenue Service as a charitable organization. Donations to the foundation from individuals, firms, corporations and associations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

The Foundation will use its funds and the income it receives exclusively for educational purposes, including providing eight scholarships to college students who plan to become teachers.

The Foundation is also used for programs such as retirement planning, member concerns and services, and for community service activities to help retired people and others. The Indiana Retired Teachers Association Foundation accepts memorial donations, bequests in wills and revocable trusts, and other gifts.

Memorial donations can be made to the foundation to honor a deceased relative or friend who had been a teacher. A letter announcing the memorial gift can be sent to the person the donor designates, and the donor will receive acknowledgement. The name of the person memorialized with the gift will be published quarterly in the Indiana Retired Teachers Association newsletter, The Bulletin Board.

Donations can also be made by anyone interested in supporting the Foundation, or the scholarship fund specifically. Donor names will also appear in the newsletter. Click here for a form that you can print out and send to the Indiana Retired Teachers Association main office with your donation to the Foundation Scholarship Fund.

Funds raised by the annual Golf Scramble are also used to provide scholarships for future teachers.

Bequests can be made in a will or revocable trust to help assist the Indiana Retired Teachers Association Foundation. Funds may be allocated to the general fund or to the scholarship program. Bequests help support college students who aspire to become teachers, show pride in the field of teaching, and demonstrate appreciation and support for the work of the association and the foundation.

The Board of Directors of Indiana Retired Teachers Association and the Executive Director manage Indiana Retired Teachers Association Foundation funds.

To make a donation, call, write or e-mail the Indiana Retired Teachers Association offices.
