IRTA provides all retired educators with the opportunity to interact with friends and former colleagues as they work to improve their
communities and to protect and enhance the retirement benefits of retirees and current teachers.
IRTA offers a variety of membership
categories and payment methods:
ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP
To be eligible for
active
membership in IRTA, you must either be a retired educator from Indiana or another state, or be the beneficiary of a retired educator who is receiving a pension from the Indiana State Teachers' Retirement Fund.
Active memberships are $30 per year,
which you can pay annually by
personal check or money order, or
via dues deduction from your
September pension check.
ASSOCIATE
MEMBERSHIP
Non-retired educators, spouses and others are eligible for
associate membership for only $5 per year.
Associate members are also eligible for
many member benefits.
LIFE MEMBERSHIP
In addition, IRTA
also offers
lifetime memberships which require a
one-time payment (which varies
according to your age). This
membership category offers the
convenience of never having to worry
about annual dues again!
IRTA
also has local
chapters located all across Indiana.
These local retired teacher associations are IRTA's grassroots, providing the leadership to implement the association's programs. Each year, delegates from the local associations meet to elect state officers, approve new programs, and evaluate the progress of IRTA. For the chapter nearest you,
